We needed to find balance in Lynne’s workouts during her “off” season focusing on upper and lower body strength and multi-joint exercises. Incorporating lower body plyometrics to develop explosive power will give her a slight edge in her running program. We tie it all together with core conditioning and flexibility.

Bruce is a very dedicated to working out. However, he had been doing the same routine over and over with lots of rest during his workout sessions. Needless to say, he had reached a plateau with his training. He was also faced with the challenge of frequent travel. We really needed to kick it up a couple of notches and design time efficient workouts he could use anywhere. Since Bruce is confident working out on his own, we also concentrated on filling his exercise arsenal with a variety of new exercises designed around multiple training systems to ensure continuous gains in strength and size.
"Joe is just who I need for training---I was looking for someone to push me, get me out of my "old solo training rut" and I got what I was looking for. Joe introduced me to the concepts of supersetting the same or opposing muscle groups, and (the dreaded) "active rest". He taught me that when you're working out for an hour---or more, or less---the intensity is what is going to make the difference. Spend an hour taking lots of breaks, or spend it working continually, the time's the same but the payoff is very different. Kick it up a notch, keep the heart rate up continually, and it will pay dividends, he said...and he was right. He's taught me a huge number of exercises which I keep in my rotation when I'm on my own, in my home gym or traveling. I've been working with Joe for well over a year now, and I can honestly say that at age 54, I'm in better shape than I've ever been. For me, the most important aspect of working with Joe is that he really gets into your workout himself---he's actually having fun while you're working out! He's right there with you, mentally, every move, it makes you want to work harder for him. He actually thanks you for the effort when it's over. You end up wanting to please him, not let him down since you know he's just a committed as you are. Kevin and Lilly were confused with all the equipment options in the gym; machines, cables, and free weights. My focus was to educate them on how to get structure into their programming. Using a variety of equipment we were able to avoid boredom while creating a structured workout for both of them in which they could workout together, but each at their own fitness level.
