Programming & Articles

Summer is just around the corner...time to dust off the bike and buy a new pair of running shoes. This month I feature articles for some outdoor fun and fitness: Swimming, training for mountain biking and triathlon preparation for the novice and elite. Also some interesting reading on the top 10 supplements, strength training as it relates to resting metabolic rate and the importance of proper nutrient intake to aid in recovery and improve performance. Exercise of the Month


The "Cable Push Press" is an ideal exercise for developing upper body power for any sport involving throwing and also for adding a few yards to your golf game. It is a highly advanced exercise involving the shoulders, legs and arms to be performed in a balistic manner on the positive action and slowly returning to the starting position (negative action). Incorporate this exercise in your program performing 8 to 10 repetitions with the left arm and then the right for 3 complete sets. Considering the level of intensity of the movement, performing the exercise no more than two times a week on non-consecutive days is ideal.
